My Cards and Tags: Vellum Butterflies

http://www.simonsaysstampblog.com/mondaychallenge/
The challenge over at the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog this week is, "We Can See Clearly."  How intriguing!  You could go with acetate or vellum or take that theme in whatever direction your little heart desires.  I went with vellum to make the butterflies on my Spring card:

I love Simon Says Stamps' Alpha Blocks die because it comes as one piece, so I decided to use all those letters for the back of my card, which I placed over a piece of paper with a wood-grain pattern.  I popped some of the letter grid backgrounds out and left some in for a bit of variety.  It's cut from a piece of paper from American Crafts' Documentary paper pack.  I smudged on some Distress Ink and added flowers stamped and cut with Simon's Watercolor Friendly Flowers set.

I added some vellum butterflies cut with Martha Stewart punches and inked them with more Distress Ink, then added Simon's "You're Amazing" sentiment.  I also added some Glossy Accent dots here and there for good measure.  I tied some embroidery floss around the bottom and this card was done!

Here are the supplies I used from Simon Says Stamp:

My Cards and Tags: For the Love of Hot Chocolate

http://www.simonsaysstampblog.com/mondaychallenge/
This week's theme over at the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog is Food and Drink.  What a perfect time to pay homage to my hot chocolate addiction with some hot chocolate gift tags!

I made these using recycled paper bases (old library card catalog card and a vintage Bingo card) and added layers of fabric and ink.  I attached my first gift tag to a box of hot chocolate k-cups for the Keurig (love you, Keurig!)

I added a doily from Doodlbug for the background and utilized a great new stamp set by Neat and Tangled called, "Perfect Blend" for the mug of hot chocolate.

I always rub on Distress Ink to give the colors more pow.  My fave go-to colors are Peacock Feathers, Mustard Seed and Worn Lipstick.

On the Bingo card, I went with a purple-green-blue color palette and once again used Neat and Tangled's Perfect Blend set for the to-go hot chocolate image.  I also added a smattering of hearts cut with Simon Says Stamps' Stacked Hearts die.

On both tags, I added circles cut with the Simon Says Stamp Loop die and then accented them even more with embroidery floss circles.  And the sentiments?  From Tim Holtz's Big Chat stickers (love them)!  I also utilized Tim's crinkle ribbon, colored with Distress Ink and Distress Stain.

No matter how hot the weather gets, hot chocolate is always a critical part of my existence!  I loved making these tags to pay tribute to this divine beverage.
